Writing a Systematised Review in Social Sciences

Most of the resources you require for your systematised review will be available via the Library collection. Items not available within the Library collection (for your own personal research) can be requested via the Library's Inter-library loan (ILL) service. This includes articles, book chapters, books, conference reports, etc.

To request an inter-library loan item, go to the Library's ILL page and fill out the online form. Requests are then sent to the British Library via the Library's Acquisitions Team. If the British Library can supply the item, for journal articles and book chapters, you will receive these in PDF format via email. Book requests can be collected from the Library for a set loanable period. See the ILL FAQs for more details about how long items take to arrive and how to download article requests, etc.

Scan and Send is an electronic document service which allows you to receive scans of book chapters and/or journal articles from print material available in the library collection. Items are sent by email from all three university libraries (University Library, The Ross Library, and NCFM Library).

This service is open to:

  • Undergraduate dissertation students
  • Postgraduate research students
  • Research staff

For more information about this service, including how to request items, please see https://guides.library.lincoln.ac.uk/find/scan

The Library participates in the SCONUL Access scheme which offers access to other higher education libraries in the UK.

SCONUL Access is a reciprocal scheme which allows eligible users to borrow books at other libraries which belong to the scheme. The scheme covers most of the university libraries in the UK and Ireland.

Who is eligble?
You can register with the scheme and may be able to borrow from other University libraries if you are:

  • a member of staff (both academic and support staff) on an open or fixed term contract
  • a postgraduate research student registered for a PhD, MPhil or similar qualification
  • a part-time, distance learning and placement student
  • or a full-time postgraduate

Full-time undergraduate students may be able to use the resources of other college and university libraries for reference.

The first step in the process is to complete the registration form at: https://www.sconul.ac.uk/sconul-access
