We have PCs and Macs in the Library for use by university students and staff at individual workstations. Find a PC allows you to locate and check if any of these are available.
You are also welcome to bring your own laptop or device and work in the Library.
Laptops are available to borrow from LapSafe cabinets at three locations across the Brayford Campus:
You will need your Student ID card to access this service.
Laptops can be borrowed for up to 3 hours at a time. If you need the laptop for a longer period you can return the laptop and borrow another. There is no restriction on how many times you can borrow a laptop.
If the laptop is late back you will be charged 25p per hour until it is returned. Make sure you receive an email receipt to confirm the laptop has been returned.
At the LapSafe cabinet, scan your Student ID card and follow the onscreen instructions. Lapsafe will allocate an available laptop to you and the cabinet will flash to let you know which one to choose.
To access the laptop, open the cabinet door and unplug the laptop from the USB-C charger. Close the door fully afterwards.
You will receive an email receipt to confirm you have borrowed the laptop. The laptop will automatically connect to the university Wi-Fi network and you will need to log on with your university username and password.
Please ensure you return the laptop within the 3 hour loan limit. You will be charged 25p per hour if it is late back.
To return the laptop, scan your card at the LapSafe cabinet and follow the onscreen instructions. Make sure that the laptop is plugged into the USB-C charging cable and then close the door securely to complete the process.
You will receive confirmation via email that you have successfully returned the laptop. If you do not receive this email confirmation, it is likely that the laptop is not correctly plugged in. Check the laptop you have just returned is plugged in and the LapSafe door is closed fully.
All students are allocated print credit at the start of each academic year. Once you've used this credit you can top-up your account at our Library helpdesks.

Printers are located on each floor of the University Library, in the Ross Library, as well as in learning lounges all around campus. They can be used for printing A4 and A3, as well as copying or scanning.
Each printer has the facility to photocopy and scan to email. Photocopying costs the same as printing while scanning is free of charge.
We have a plotter that you can use to print larger formats (A2, A1, A0). The plotter is located on the 1st floor of the University Library.
Help guides are available by the plotter, or please ask for assistance at the Library helpdesk.
Print from My Device allows you to print to University printers from a range of devices.
