Getting Started

The library has a number of databases which allow you to stream previously aired TV or radio programmes relating to philosophy on or off campus. Here are a few we particularly recommend.

Shared off-air recording and media archive service. Programmes can only be viewed in the UK.

Access to UK television and radio data, including programme listings for more than 300 TV and radio channels from 1995 onwards. The data is available at least 10 days before transmission. Selected records are enhanced with extra information, including production credits.

Radio Programmes and Podcasts on Philosophy

Good in Theory
Good theory is a podcast from a former academic political philosopher, Clif Mark, who aims to make key texts in the field accessible to a general audience.
Hi-Phi Nation
A podcast series written, edited, and produced by Dr Barry Lam, which combines philosophy, storytelling, and journalism.
History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps
A podcast series by Peter Adamson, Professor of Philosophy at the LMU in Munich and at King's College London, which surveys the history of philosophy and aims to include both well-known and lesser-known philosophers' lives and works.
Philosophy Now
Radio show and podcast produced by the magazine of the same name, with a rotating cast of guests, hosts, and themes.
The Public Philosopher
A radio programme hosted by Professor Michael Sanders which addresses issues of public importance in philosophy.
Why? Philosophical Discussions About Everyday Life
A monthly radio show (also available as a podcast) with Professor Jack Russell Weinstein which aims to show that philosophy is relevant to everyone's day-to-day lives.
