Choose Advanced Search and select "Entertainment Review" under Document Type. Type the title of the musical, play, venue, or name of performer, venue, or theatre company into the search box and search.

Log into the news section of Lexis (see video for instructions). Type the word "review" in one search box, and the musical title, or performing artist, or musical group name for which you are searching. You can also try this search without including the word review.

For reviews (published between 1851 and 2012) go to the advanced search screen. You can put your search term in the box at the top, then scroll down and tick "review" in the Document Type box.

Nexis covers international newspapers including foreign language sources, from 1980 to today. Log into the news section of Nexis. Type the word "review" in one search box, and the musical title, or performing artist, or musical group name for which you are searching. You can also try this search without including the word review.

The Times Digital Archive runs from 1785 to 1985, so is a good place to search for historical reviews of plays. Select the advanced search mode, and then type the title of the play or the playwright into the search field (enclosing the title in quotation marks) then tick the review box below the search fields. To narrow your results, you can use the pulldown menu next to the search field to "article title" so that you will only get the results where your search term appears in the headline.
