Writing Development

Please report to the ground floor reception desk in the University Library on arrival. 

Online appointments are via MS Teams. You will receive a meeting link in your confirmation email. 

We have a few appointments each week that are via MS Teams chat.

Please be available on Teams at the time of your appointment and one of our advisors will start the chat. 

Please email us if you can't find a suitable appointment slot and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Appointments are bookable up to 3 weeks in advance
  • You can only book one appointment at a time: once you have completed your appointment, you can book a further appointment.
  • You have a maximum of 4 per term.

Terms and Conditions and How we can help you

All University of Lincoln students can use Writing Development. 

We hope we can help you to become an independent, self-reliant academic writer. After an appointment with us, please reflect on what you learned about academic writing and apply it to subsequent assessments.

  1. You can book a maximum of four appointments per term:
    • Four appointments from 1st September to 31st December
    • Four appointments from 1st January to 30th April
    • Four appointments from 1st May to 31st August
  2. You can book a maximum of one appointment per week (subject to availability).
  3. You can only book one appointment at a time. If you book more, the second appointment will be cancelled.

If you cannot attend an appointment, please cancel as soon as possible to give other students the opportunity to book.

  • Strategies for editing and proof-reading
  • Understanding your feedback
  • Revision and exam techniques

Using Microsoft Editor to check your grammar and spelling before your appointment. We also recommend Draft Coach. Find out more about Draft Coach here.

  • We do not edit or proof-read your work for you (please see proof-reading policy below).
  • We do not check to see if you have met the learning outcomes of your assignment, as this is something you have to do for yourself.
  • We do not help with the subject content of your assignment.
  • We do not help with finding information or referencing. Please contact your Learning and Teaching Librarian.
