Academic integrity is the commitment to complete your academic work independently and honestly, in an appropriate academic style, according to your institution’s requirements.

There are six fundamental values of academic integrity: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage (International Center for Academic Integrity, 2021).

Find out more about what academic integrity is and how to achieve it by watching the short videos below.

Academic integrity at the University of Lincoln

The University of Lincoln takes academic integrity very seriously, so you need to ensure you are aware of what constitutes good academic practice and avoid anything that could be considered an academic offence.

Academic offences

The University’s General Regulations provide information on some of the different types of academic offences, but you can also find examples of academic offences here. There will also be information in your course and module handbooks.

Originality statement

The university has created an originality statement which students need to use to state that an assessment is their own work. It is important to read and understand the originality statement in the assessment area of Blackboard, along with information about academic offences.
