About Citing Books

For each type of source in this guide, both the general form and an example will be provided.

The following format will be used:

Parenthetical citation - author and date is in brackets after the cited work - e.g. (Florence, 2019).

Narrative citation - author is written in the body of the text and the date is in brackets after the cited work - e.g. Owen (2018).

References - entry that appears at the end of your paper.

Information on citing was drawn from the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.).

If a book has a DOI, include this at the end of the reference, regardless of whether you consulted the print or ebook.

Notes

If a book has a DOI include this at the end of the reference, regardless of whether you consulted the print or ebook version.
